What We Do
Indoor Accent Lighting Types We Install
Under-Cabinet Lighting
Illuminate kitchen workspaces and create evening ambiance.
Wall Wash Lighting
Highlight art, shelving, or textured walls.
Toe-Kick & Step Lighting
Toe kick and step lighting adds a gentle glow along hallways, stairs, or bathrooms, making it easier to see at night without turning on bright overhead lights. It is a small detail that brings both comfort and safety to your home.
Cove & Tray Ceiling Lighting
Cove and tray ceiling lighting adds a gentle glow that makes the whole room feel warm and welcoming. It’s an easy way to bring a soft, elegant touch to your space without making the lighting feel harsh or overpowering.
Built-In Shelf Lighting
Make your bookshelves or display cabinets glow from within, turning them into a feature you notice every time you walk into the room. It’s a simple touch that makes the room feel more inviting.
Smart Lighting Integration
Smart lighting lets you control the mood and brightness of any room with the touch of a button or a simple voice command. It makes everyday living easier, more comfortable, and perfectly tailored to the way you use your home.
Need something more custom? No problem. We source or retrofit solutions to match the cabinetry, millwork, or tight space requirements.
Thoughtfully Designed Indoor Accent Lighting, Seamlessly Installed
Interior accent lighting is more than just a nice touch. It shapes how a space feels and functions. Recessed lights can draw focus to a fireplace or bookshelf. Toe-kick strips under kitchen cabinets help guide your way in the dark. A well-lit stair tread keeps your home safer, especially for kids and guests.
We work with homeowners, designers, and architects to plan and install indoor accent lighting during all phases of construction. From behind-the-scenes wiring to final trim work, our team delivers clean installs, code-compliant connections, and lighting that actually fits the way you live.
The HomeSquarePro Way
Many lighting contractors install fixtures. Few work with the same level of detail and collaboration as our design/build team. We:
- Review your floor plans or walk through your home with you.
- Sketch lighting concepts and confirm sightlines and fixture scale.
- Coordinate with electricians and drywall/paint crews to avoid rework.
- Keep timelines clear and disruption minimal.
If we’re doing a larger remodel for you, lighting is part of the plan from day one.
Smart Lighting, Smarter Living
Want to automate scenes, dim levels, or even change color temperature throughout the day? We install dimmers, programmable switches, and integrate your accent lighting with smart home hubs like Lutron Caséta, Alexa, or Google Home. No more searching for the right switch, or blasting your sleepy eyes with full daylight at 2 a.m.
Let’s Get It Right
Indoor accent lighting can transform a space, but only if it’s planned and installed correctly. From soft glows to architectural highlights, HomeSquarePro helps you get it right the first time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What’s the difference between accent, task, and ambient lighting?
Ambient lighting fills the room, task lighting targets work areas (counters), and accent lighting highlights features or creates mood (art walls, coves, toe-kicks). Most great rooms use all three in layers.
Do I need new wiring, or can you use what I have?
It depends on the plan. We can often reuse existing circuits for small additions. For larger upgrades or many new fixtures we may add a dedicated circuit or low-voltage driver. We’ll assess during a walkthrough and explain the cleanest option.
Will this require permits?
Fixture swaps don’t. Adding new wiring, circuits, or boxes may require permits depending on your town. We handle permitting and inspections where required in Westchester, Putnam, and Fairfield counties.
Can all LED accent lights be dimmed?
Not all. We specify dimmable LEDs and compatible dimmers/drivers to prevent flicker or drop-outs. If you already have fixtures we’ll confirm compatibility or suggest the right controls.
Will you hide power supplies, cords, and channels?
Yes. We route wiring within cabinetry, walls, or trim cavities where possible and conceal LED drivers in accessible out-of-sight locations (e.g., pantry, basement, or cabinet voids).
Can you retrofit accent lighting into finished spaces without a remodel?
Often yes. Low-profile channels, surface-mount fixtures, and careful wire routing let us add lighting with minimal drywall work. If patching is needed, our team handles it and can paint to match.
What’s the typical installation timeline?
Small projects (e.g. under-cabinet plus a few toe-kicks) often take half a day to a day. Multi-room or integrated smart systems can take 1-3 days depending on access and scope.
What if I have artwork or cabinetry with sensitive finishes?
We select low-heat LED fixtures with appropriate beam spreads and CRI. For fine art we can specify high-CRI, UV-free LEDs and aim/offset the beam to minimize glare.
Do you provide warranties or service after installation?
We stand behind our work and specify fixtures with solid manufacturer warranties. If anything needs adjustment, we’re local and available for service.
